Foot Verrucae
A verruca is a wart on the foot from the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Verrucae may develop as a single unit or in clusters, they are very vascular and often seen with small black dots within.
How to Prevent Verrucae
Verrucae can be stubborn and difficult to treat, are contagious and their spread can be accelerated by warm damp conditions or contact with contaminated surfaces including areas such as shared shower cubicles, public changing rooms or swimming pools – or shared footwear.
Wear flip flops to protect the feet in communal shower areas. Don’t share footwear. Keep feet clean and dry to help prevent verrucae.
The Foot Hygiene Cream has antifungal and antibacterial properties and can be used all over the feet for preventive measures for those using shared gym facilities and swimming pools.
Here at Margaret Dabbs™ London, our HCPC-registered podiatrists are on hand to assess, diagnose and treat verrucae, whatever size or shape they may be! Should the clinician diagnose a verruca, we then discuss and agree on a plan of action. This will include a specific treatment plan, in addition to homecare and product advice, centred around your individual needs.
How to Treat Verrucae
Conservative home treatment of a verruca can start with using the Professional Foot File to reduce the verruca crater and make weight-bearing more comfortable. Follow with the daily application of the Foot Hygiene Cream, placed or scooped over the verrucae and covered with a plaster to keep the cream in place.
The Foot Hygiene Cream is suitable for use for adults and children over the age of 4 years.
Over-the-counter pharmaceutical products can be purchased and used but caution should be exercised due to the % of salicylic acid in these preparations.
